Supplier Integration Engineer for Engine Equipment
As a Supplier Integration Engineer - Engine Equipment, you will have the opportunity to join our Controls System division, based in Derby. As a member of this team you will be supporting cutting-edge, high profile civil and business engine projects covering commodities including sensors, heat management, pneumatics, filters, air turbine starters, Ignition and actuators. In this role you will have the chance to understand the requirements of the control unit and provide technical knowledge, understanding and support to the supply chain process. This role allows you to exercise your engineering expertise by managing the generation of the requirements for control units, by understanding the gas turbine functional, non-functional and environmental requirements. Whilst it is not the role of the Supplier Integration Engineer - Engine Equipment to design the component it is a requirement that you can utilise your engineering expertise to review and challenge the engineering proposals put forward by the supply chain. This knowledge and experience will also be required in the support of in service investigations into unit / component failures and will require a degree of systems understanding. Key Accountabilities - Generation and management of the requirements for control units by understanding the gas turbine functional, non-functional and environmental requirements. - Provide technical assessment of supplier proposals during the selection process. - Liaise with suppliers to understand the functional performance capabilities of the selected control system hardware. - Review and approval of designs proposed by suppliers, ensuring that the design meets the requirements and that lessons learned from previous programmes are applied. - Oversee the supplier's programme of work; managing and reporting deviations from the programme. - Support of the integration of the units in the system (engine / aircraft) and support to testing and production. - Support engine running by providing acquired project specific control system knowledge. - Data analysis to validate the unit design, investigating potential problems and propose appropriate solutions. - Address in-service problems, running root-cause investigations and defining containment and corrective actions. Qualifications Essential: - A demonstrated engineering background and be qualified to degree level or equivalent. - You will have knowledge of System Engineering practices and Design & Make programmes, and understand project management processes and skills. - You will be a good team player, able to build relationships based on trust and understanding to achieve the best possible product. - You will be adept at problem solving. - Demonstrated ability to plan and manage complex tasks, report on progress and deliver against challenging targets. - You will be able to solve technical problems by creating a detailed plan of work, using formal and informal techniques, driving colleagues in other Rolls-Royce departments and at the unit supplier to achieve the committed programme. - You will be comfortable with presenting (at all levels) any issues/findings related to these programmes.
