My client is a very well established British manufacturer of powered precision products supplying to a wide range of commercial and private sectors. They are very well established with a solid customer base and this role will offer an excellent opportunity to work in a friendly and open environment, with the chance to support various aspects of the growing business. Due to increased workload, they are currently seeking a Quality/Manufacturing Engineer with the main emphasis on quality. Main Objectives and duties - Record and act on general quality issues raised on the shop floor - Give training and guidance to machine operators and assembly line workers, creating and updating work instructions where necessary. - Help reduce the warranty cost KPI. - Address customer complaints raised by the Sales team. - Work with suppliers to help improve quality and visit them when necessary to carry out audits. - Work with the purchasing department to help measure, monitor and analyse external supplier performance and make recommendations on suitability when necessary. - Record and act on general quality issues raised on the shop floor - Observe assembly operations and make sure they are carried out to set procedures. - Create operating procedures for new products and amend existing ones as required. - Analyse shop floor quality measurements to identify problems early and solicit observations from operators. - Follow up on implemented solutions to make sure the issue cannot reoccur - Maintain and improve; jigs, tooling and machine capability for new and existing products. - Apply broad engineering knowledge and problem solving methods to improve processes. This position would suit a recent graduate who has had some experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment who is looking to build a career within quality and improvements. Main requirements - BTEC/City & Guilds certificate/HNC/HND/Degree. - A high and well developed understanding of quality and manufacturing principles. - Knowledge of mechanical applications preferred, electrical knowledge would be a distinct advantage. - Ability to read mechanical drawings - Ability to understand drawing tolerances - Ability to set up and devise accurate methods to measure components - Experience of dealing with demanding customers - Ability to solve problems in a structured way and logically fault find - Good computer skills - Valid UK driving license
