Design Engineer East Midlands £20,000-£35,000 :: Are you a Design Engineer looking for a new interesting role? :: Do you want to work for a company that is at the forefront of Timber Engineering? We are looking for a design engineer with an interest in timber design and modern methods of construction. You should be keen to broaden your knowledge of engineering to include fabrication techniques, temporary works, connection design and 3d modelling as well as scheme and detailed design. You will need to be flexible, open to different ways of working and able to communicate with a wide range of different people. Responsibilities: :: You will be reporting directly to the Design/Technical Manager, producing structural designs including member and panel sizing as well as connection designs for both tenders and live contracts. :: Provide advice on the stability of structures both in the temporary and permanent conditions. :: Help further develop the company's technical expertise within the structural steel, glulam, and hybrid fields. :: Attend pre or post contract design meetings, either independently or as part of a team. :: Continue the company's ethos of developing new methods of working, exploring new design methods and seeking out fresh opportunities. What do you need for the role? :: Qualification in Structural or Civil engineering to MEng or MSc level :: Ability to demonstrate their capability to read engineering drawings and specifications to produce a co-ordinated design :: Have a good working knowledge of relevant design codes (both British Standards and Eurocodes). :: Knowledge of timber design to EC5 is desirable, but applicants lacking timber design experience will be supported in developing these skills. :: Have an appreciation and understanding of the impact of design solutions on other trades and functions. :: Have a good appreciation of the commercial impact of design and associated detail If you are interested in this role then please click 'apply' or please call Rebecca Hamilton on for a confidential chat Key Skills: Engineer, Design Engineer, Timber Frame, Timber Engineering, Steel, Light Steel Frame
