Mechanical Surveyor - Working on cranes Stoke ''An experienced industrial mechanical technician with a detailed eye for inspecting defects'' The Company The client is a test, inspection and certification business that has been established over 180 years and has a fantastic global reputation. With over 70,000 employees with 1100 in the UK & Ireland they offer support for over 900 different accreditations to 400,000 different clients. They are an independent business who operate to provide third party inspections for insurance purposes. The company is well known within its sector at being the best for delivering training and development to its employees. The Role As a Crane Surveyor, you will be responsible for a defined region where you will visit clients to inspect, test and certify that their crane is safe to operate and complies to the relevant standards. You will need to be Mr or Mrs organised as you will have to manage your own diary based on the information the planning team submit to you. You will be aiming to get your first and last visits 45 minutes away from home to give you the best work life balance possible. As a Mechanical Surveyor, you will have a very methodical mindset and we do require you to be tech savvy as you will have to produce and deliver inspection reports using a tablet. As you can appreciate you will be disrupting a client's work flow so a solid degree of communication and people facing skills are required. The ideal Candidate You don't necessarily need to already be a Mechanical Surveyor to be considered, you just need to have an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline supported with 5 years post qualification experience maintaining cranes. Alternatively, you could be HNC qualified with 3 years' experience. Overall, you will have the capability to inspect, test and certify that the cranes are safe to operate. Training - 2 days induction - 1 week health & Safety - 5 Weeks job training - 2 - 3 weeks will be away from home for training at a unique training school designed to deliver over 40 new skills Salary & Benefits All Mechanical Surveyors are offered competitive salary of £32,500 for working 40 hours per week, whereas competitors expect 40 hours of inspection time which gives you more time for family, hobbies and enjoying life outside of work. You will be given a works vehicle to travel around from site to site, the vehicles are not tracked so nipping to the shop in your spare time is not an issue.
