We are currently recruiting at our Foston site for a Senior Engineering Technician. We are looking for an experienced individual who will safely deliver cost effective maintenance activities to site assets in line with annual maintenance plans and situation demands. The successful candidate will situational manage all aspects of the shift maintenance function. They will actively seek and implement new improvement methods to increase reliability. To support Maintenance Excellence roadmap implementation in order to help us achieve our aim to become the biggest and best chilled dairy & Ingredients Company in the UK. Your challenge In this role the key responsibilities will include: Be proactive and responsive in the shift team attending breakdowns to both plant and equipment. Ensure an effective handover is achieved with the incoming shift-setting expectations at start of shift and reviewing performance at the end. Builds strong awareness of departmental needs thereby maximising production output and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation. Prioritise, through consultation with Production Shift Manager and Engineering Manager, the order of own workload, taking into account factory needs. Be the single point of contact for and communicate effectively with Production Team Leaders, Operators and all Engineering staff. Contribute to the upkeep of all relevant technical documentation. Ensure both group and individual objectives are positively progressed in line with the Muller Maintenance Strategy, and positively contribute to site initiatives as requested. Work with the factory planned maintenance system to both develop and complete planned maintenance routines whilst constantly monitoring the effectiveness of the system. Raise purchase order requisitions for spare parts as required, and liaise with the Engineering Services Support Controller to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained and complying with budgetary constraints and administrative systems. Work within and enhance where possible the team working structure on the site and actively participate in team meetings with Production, Technical, external suppliers and customers. Implement performance improvement projects as identified by the Engineering Manager. Provide training to Operators in basic maintenance skills. Manage small projects as per the site plan and in conjunction with the Engineering Manager or appointed project lead. Be responsible for identifying faults and assessing and communicating the effects on production, taking into account likely timescales for resolution and consequences of downtime. Identify when safety standards can be improved and take appropriate action to implement improvements. Assist Production in devising strategies to achieve output, quantity, quality, and hygiene and cost targets. Drive C.I. within the department to best utilise resource releasing cost benefit by bringing service work in house. Supporting engineering team with in house service work. Priorities; complete and delegate as appropriate other work as and when issues occur during the shift. Provide support in Electrical, Mechanical and Pneumatic control systems ensuring efficient plant operation to the team of engineers; you will be the first point of call to any electrical/mechanical breakdown or performance issue on site. This could be on a production line, effluent plant or utilities functions. Maintenance tasks will also be undertaken as time and production allow. Ensure root cause analysis and problem solving techniques are carried out to maximise the efficiency and safety of plant and machinery, with the focus on enabling Production to meet their targets on time, on cost and to set quality standards. Ensure all SAP related tasks are completed prior to handover. Direct point of contact will be the Operational Shift Managers whilst ensuring a close working partnership with the production teams. Be the single point of contact for all contractors working during the shift providing them with permits where appropriate. Ensure all documentation is in place e.g. Risk Assessments, method statements etc. Ensure all contractors are working safely and in line with their RAMS and food safety practices. Assess cover requirements and management of absence of the shift engineers. List the PSM process, Pulse boards, SIC process, RCFA's etc. Carry out effective 121's, PDP's etc with the shift technicians in line with Muller HR best practise. Key skills & experience Completion of a recognised apprenticeship is essential. Minimum 5 years in maintenance is essential. ONC / HNC / IOSHH qualifications are desired. Educated in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering. PLC programming knowledge in Siemens S7 and Allen Bradley, scara system would be advantageous. Tetra pack process systems knowledge. Food hygiene / H&S certificate are desirable. Completion of a multi skilled training program. Proven ability to actively apply skills in a safe and effective manner. Ability to develop an excellent technical knowledge of the plant. Relevant food/liquid manufacturing/filling experience essential. A logical fault finding approach to breakdowns and problem solving. Engineering leadership experience is desirable. Ability to work under pressure. Time management skills and ability to prioritise work load in line with business needs. Team worker with excellent communication and negotiation skills. Self-driven, proactive and determined. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Keen to explore and utilise new technology. Excellent communicator and leadership qualities.
