We are currently looking to expand the engineering capability and bring in a Controls Engineer - Software and Tools Main focus of the role Experienced in software, electronics or mechatronics, the Controls Engineer - Software and Tools will join an established team working on future engine applications and technologies. The role involves developing and maintaining various software and simulation tools to support the Calibration and Controls team. Responsibilities The main responsibilities of the Controls Engineer - Software and Tools will include the following: - DSpace Hardware In the Loop (HIL) engine simulation rigs - Matlab / Simulink model based engine simulations - Configuration of group ServiceMaster electronic service tool - Use of rapid prototype development tools such as ATI "No Hooks/On Target" - Development of scripts for automated testing - Configuration of machine data loggers - Processing and analysis of data logs - Writing technical reports and procedures - Creating of specifications and validation test plans Required Experience & qualifications The ideal candidate for the role of Controls Engineer - Software and Tools will have a strong engineering background and a Degree/HND in either Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent experience. Experience of Matlab / Simulink / StateFlow tools and their application in HIL systems is essential for the role. You will have proven experience with production of prototype / bespoke harnessing for rigs, simulators and data logger installations. As Controls Engineer you will have knowledge of automotive electrical & electronics systems, in addition to an understanding of diesel or gasoline engine fundamentals. Experience of structured programming in a high level language such an ANSI-C, and Software validation and testing is required. Applicants will have good verbal and written communication skills, be self-disciplined and organised with good numerical and analytical skills.
