Fish Media is an experienced, vibrant and friendly company with a big outlook based in a leafy suburb just a short stroll from Derby City Centre. We enjoy developing great websites, web applications and mobile solutions for our clients and get to work across many sectors including sport, retail, fashion, food and drink and travel to name a few.

We are looking for a motivated Graduate/Junior Web Developer who is hungry to develop their skills and experience by joining our small talented team.

You will be local (ideally), bright, a talented developer, have a keen sense of humour and able to demonstrate some commercial experience. You will be a team player and have experience of delivering projects to an agreed specification. You will have a detailed understanding of the Internet and the components that make up Web applications.

We work as a close-knit team and are keen to invest in the right candidate with support and cross-training being provided from our Director of Development.

The core skills we require you have for this role are as follows.

  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery
  • Bootstrap framework and SCSS
  • Responsive web-design techniques / cross platform
  • ASP.Net 4+ (C# and VB)
  • SQL Server and MySQL

If you have experience in the following areas then it could tip the balance in your favour.

  • Understanding of OOP and .NET core concepts
  • Knowledge of other programming languages, i.e. Classic ASP, PHP
  • Understanding of page speed best practices
  • Knowledge of SEO
  • Experience with e-commerce systems
  • Experience with Visual Studio, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of MVC
  • Understanding of Entity Framework
  • Web concepts including accessibility, security and performance
