NMC have over the years established several frameworks within the Power Sector for several electricity distribution network operators. We are currently going through a period of sustained growth and have an exciting opportunity within our existing sector for an enthusiastic and positive individual. This role will predominantly be working within 132KV/33KV Substation environments. Reporting to Site Management, the site engineer is responsible for Preparation of Setting Out, CAD Systems and Total Stations, GPS level control, specifications and adherence to the Q&A procedures set in place. As site engineer you will be responsible for decimation of information to all trades over multiple disciplines and also for junior members of the engineering staff and their perceived learning in the workplace. You will able to competently understand all civil engineering drawings and be able to spot potential areas either for error or for potential gain, programme and cost betterment. You must have excellent setting out and surveying skills demonstrating setting out roads & sewers, steel framed buildings and surveying/ recording as built information. A willingness for your presence to have a positive impact on the delivery team is essential. A full driving licence along with a willingness to work on construction sites in Tamworth/North Birmingham and the surrounding areas, however at times, areas outside of these, you will be required to accommodate Other duties include: - - To ensure Health & Safety, quality is of paramount importance - Setting out, levelling and surveying the site; - Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy - Surveying the site and locating buried services - Take off for material requisition, financial control and tender feedback - Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications - Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant - Agreeing a price for materials, and making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project - Managing, monitoring and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect - Liaising with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project - Liaising with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws - Preparing reports as required - To regularly review project status ensuring all options have been considered and evaluated to improve construction performance. - Ensure commercial challenge at all times - Promote near miss and positive intervention reporting - Engage with supply chain Skills and Qualifications - An industry applicable qualification - Heavy civil engineering experience is essential - Working knowledge of Microsoft packages - Self motivation - Be able to organise yourself and others workload - Be able to work in a strong team environment - Be proactive in your approach - An excellent communicator
