Our client is a major diversified industrial group specialising in the B2B sector. It is an iconic UK brand with an excellent and highly successful track record, and is undoubtedly regarded as a market leader. This is an excellent and high-profile opportunity for an experienced S&OP, demand and supply planning specialist familiar with forecasting and collaborating across multiple production facilities, national commercial/sales teams and multi-site in house and third-party transport/logistics operations. You will therefore possess excellent persuasion, influencing, facilitation, negotiation and presentation skills.
Our client is seeking a graduate calibre, highly numerate, analytical and computer literate individual with extensive demand planning, forecasting, production scheduling and supply chain planning experience for its Central and Midlands region which is one of the largest and most profitable in the business.
The Role:
The S & OP/Sales & Operations Planning Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the balance between demand and supply bringing together the senior management views of Commercial, Manufacturing and Logistics within the region. They will actively drive supply optimisation and transport cost benefits to the business whilst balancing key customer service requirements through highly effective cross functional collaboration and planning.
This is a high-profile role and highly visible role (as opposed to being desk bound) requiring a clear, confident communicator who is experienced in leading and facilitating S & OP meetings and applying forecasting to short and long-term planning. You will be proactive and customer focused with demonstrable initiative and excellent cross functional working.
You will refine and manage a fully comprehensive and integrated S & OP process, managing the monthly S & OP forecasting across a rolling 3-12-month process to help drive business financial forecasts.
You will provide the focus and drive for the supply chain end to end forecasting and demand planning process, bringing together commercial sales forecasting and manufacturing and logistics fulfilment capability.
You will also work closely with the national supply optimisation team to actively influence regional business strategy through strong S & OP processes. You will manage and develop a S & OP Analyst.
On an ongoing basis, monitor and analyse sales and other data to identify trends, provide extrapolations, evaluating data accuracy and ensuring the provision of accurate information as required to the business.
You will also support the preparation of regional business annual operating budgets and individual business cases for capital investments and other projects.

The Successful Applicant:
  • Graduate calibre education minimum A levels, ideally University degree with strong evidence of achievement in analytical, mathematical or scientific subjects.
  • Advanced User of Excel with experience of SAP and data extraction and manipulation tools.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a supply chain planning, S & OP, demand planning and sales forecasting role.
  • Strong foundation skills in S & OP analysis, having perhaps worked as a S & OP or Supply Chain, Demand Planning or Forecasting Analyst.
  • Experience gained within a high volume, fast moving, ideally multi-site manufacturing and logistics operation.
  • This experience must include team leadership/people management experience within the S & OP function.
  • Confident communicator, already experienced in leading and facilitating collaborative planning and forecasting meetings with cross functional teams, in order to drive the benefits of the S & OP process.
  • Comfortable with challenging other members of the regional senior management team as required in order to drive the correct business decisions
  • Capable of adapting between consensus & directive management styles in order to facilitate the correct actions from the S&OP process
  • Excellent persuasion, influencing, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain complex supply chain and logistics issues to non-functional personnel at all levels
  • Commercial maturity and financial awareness with experience of raising the profile of the function and demonstrating how S & OP can add value to the business.
  • Excellent attention to detail, on able to analyse market intelligence and trend information from commercial and other cross functional colleagues in order to produce accurate rolling forecasts.
  • Highly adaptive style to cope with complex strategic, tactical and operational issues.
  • Comfortable moving between varying levels of detail in ensuring the detail of the forecasting and S&OP process is robust whilst dealing at summary level for key decision making at senior executive level.
