Working hours: Permanent, full-time.
Our client manufactures an exciting range of systems for the construction, automotive, acoustic and audio markets, exporting to numerous countries around the world. They are a leading manufacturer of engineered facade and roofing systems to the architectural sector, complemented by a comprehensive range of fasteners, load bearing components and accessories. They have full in-house testing facilities, as well as 3D design and engineering analysis and also produce a broad range of acoustic mesh and perforated components for the automotive, architectural and audio markets, specialising in visual imaging on facades as well as aesthetic diffusion and absorption solutions.

THE ROLE- Operations/Production Manager (Mechanical) - West Bromwich, West Midlands
This role, reporting to the General Manager, will take primary production responsibility for the Building Systems manufacturing processes to help achieve the ultimate aim of "best in class". Ensuring that Quality, H&S and Production key objectives are achieved and exceeded, employing effective co-ordination of physical requirements within the Building Systems facility. Provide support for the wider Ash and Lacy business, ensuring optimum co-operation with other ALBS divisions and commercial teams

Key responsibilities for the Operations/Production Manager (Mechanical) - in West Bromwich, West Midlands to include:
Generation and control of all work schedules with the Building Systems Division (Rain screen, Roofing, Rolled Products, Modular) to meet with customer demands and ensure efficient utilisation of resources
Develop and control all workplace organisation and controls, to ensure high levels of housekeeping and safety. Foster ethos underpinned by 5S to ensure continual improvement of workplace controls
Define machine standards, and ensure continual compliance with regards maintaining and servicing, utilise company audit regimes to manage and control compliance
Develop and own the standard operating procedures for the depot. Define standards and audit to ensure compliance. Utilise Standard operating procedures to define skills of workforce, and to enable to affective development
Utilise skills matrix and mechanisms to appraise workforce and to identify opportunities for improvement, personal development
Utilise company NCF process for the recording, action and management of customer complaints / issues to facilitate root cause and process improvement. Link with the Quality manager to ensure continual improvement and adherence to ISO9001 standards
Manage facility to ensure optimum utilisations of resources made available. Affective management of stock profiles, Affective utilisation of labour available, and affective performance of plant and equipment
At all-time ensure compliance with health and safety standards applicable both company and statutory. Ensure first use machine checks and Guarding always undertaken, SSOW and Risk assessment and Health and Safety ownership
Link with commercial to ensure the affective action to agreed terms sales orders as detailed and processed


CANDIDATE- Operations/Production Manager (Mechanical) - West Bromwich, West Midlands
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working within a similar/ Production/Management role with experience of either Automotive/ manufacturing/ or Engineering environment and be educated to an engineering, mechanical, or related subject, degree level. You will have experience of introducing measurable and effective process improvements, and strong organisational and management skills with the ability to work alone or as part of a team in a challenging but rewarding environment.

KEY CRITERIAS- Operations/Production Manager (Mechanical) - West Bromwich, West Midlands ESSENTIAL
Extensive experience working within an Operations/Production Manager role from an Automotive/ manufacturing/or Engineering environment
Ability to manage teams of up to 130 people on a shift rotation pattern
Demonstrable experience of introducing measurable and effective process improvements
Strong organisational and project management skills
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
Project/Teamwork experience

HNC or above in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Civil)
Lead auditor for ISO9001, including 2015 transition desirable but not essential
Black Belt Six Sigma trained advantageous
