We're industry experts, but we're always looking for ways to be better. You can help us deliver the best service to our customers, and ensure the ongoing safe management of our asset portfolios, by joining our Investment Risk function. The Role: Reporting to the Head of Investment Risk, the main purpose of the role is to support all aspects of our Asset/Liability Matching and hedging activities across our Life Company operations. Key areas of focus will include: Managing our exposures to investment risks and ensuring these are kept within risk tolerance levels; Recommending new hedging strategies or improvements to existing hedging strategies where appropriate; and Liaising with colleagues across our business to ensure any resulting investment mandates are appropriately implemented and maintained. You'll be working in partnership with colleagues in our Financial Management Group (FMG) and Investment Office, talking to investment banks and building relationships with our asset management partners, keeping abreast of market outlooks to see what might be coming up on the horizon and using your knowledge of hedging techniques to help protect us from future economic shocks. A role like this comes with lots of variety and there'll be plenty of opportunity for you to help to develop our capability within the investment strategy arena: you could find yourself drafting technical reports on the effectiveness of our hedging strategies, attending technical committees to present new ideas, or working with colleagues in Actuarial Reporting to ensure our valuation models are accurately reflecting our real-life investment and hedging practices. A strong understanding of financial markets and the risk characteristics of a range of asset classes, along with a solid grasp of hedging techniques and strategies used within the Financial Services industry, are essential. Just as important, though, are the wider skills and behaviours we'll expect you to display in the role. As an excellent relationship builder, you'll need to be proactive in reaching out to other areas of our business (and with external partners) to drive change and make things happen. Comfortable with generating new and creative ideas, and prioritising tasks to challenging timescales, you'll enjoy supporting those around you and be confident enough to make the first move if you can spot opportunities for improving the way in which we do things. We're looking for people with the drive, energy and commitment to help the team develop its capabilities towards being a risk-based function, fit to face the strategic challenges of the future. All in all, it's a fantastic opportunity to develop your already impressive investments background, with plenty of scope to make a difference!
