UK FCC Head of Anti-Bribery and Corruption

Role Purpose

Develop, enhance and monitor HSBC's anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) policies and procedures (ABC policies) in UK. Role primarily entails: providing ABC compliance advice; working with business teams and functions to complete routine ABC risk assessments; working with business and functions to implement a stronger ABC control framework; managing ABC UK team members; assisting the Global ABC team with the enhancement of ABC policies, where necessary, and the roll-out of the revised ABC policies; and undertaking ongoing monitoring of key ABC controls to ensure compliance with ABC policies and procedures.

Key Tasks

Impact on the Business:
Provide dedicated ABC compliance advice. Completion of the ABC risk assessment in UK (including the risk evaluation, validation and reporting). Align of the existing ABC policies, including updating of the relevant ABC policies where required. Liaising with the regional and global ABC Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) teams to ensure consistent implementation of the ABC policies. Act as point of contact for internal stakeholders in UK in relation to ABC queries. Stay at the forefront of key regulatory changes in relation to ABC. Implementation of HSBC's ABC strategy, policy and standards, controls, systems and policies. Monitoring and testing of ABC compliance. Be supportive in liaising with all stakeholders in the business and compliance to ensure their full engagement. MI reporting requirements as needed.

Customers/Stakeholders:
Provision of reports on a UK wide basis to the Board (and, as necessary, regulators) on ABC issues. Act as principal point of contact for FCC teams, LoB and Functions. Work effectively with principal regulators and industry bodies on ABC matters. Liaise with relevant stakeholder within Global Business and Functions to provide expertise and support on all ABC related matters Participate in and work with relevant industry bodies (e.g. BBA, TI and ICC) in relation to ABC initiatives, trends and proposals.

Leadership and Teamwork
Manage UK ABC team members to ensure consistent, effective implementation of controls to evidence ABC policies and procedures. Develop, set and deliver the strategy for the FCC ABC function at country level and supporting delivery at the country level. Work effectively with colleagues across the FCC functions and global ABC teams.

Operational Effectiveness and Control
Provide solutions to complex local issues/initiatives in an ever changing, high-risk environment. Maintain awareness of operational risk within assigned portfolio and minimise the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting. Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators across Europe.
Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications Desired

Experienced professional with experience in one or more risk compliance roles (including ABC). An understanding of HSBC (desirable but not essential). Extensive knowledge of relevant ABC legislation and guidance. Analytical skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning. Ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings both to Compliance Colleagues and Business Heads. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Ability to work under pressure and within tight time-lines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven team player with an open communication style.
