JOB TITLE: Advice & Support Worker

WORKING HOURS: Part Time 21 hours per week


- Annual Leave 25 working days (pro-rata) + pro rata Bank Holidays added to annual leave entitlement
- Competitive pension scheme (8%)

THE COMPANY: We are pleased to be working with our client who is an independent local charity which exists to provide services, support, advice and information to older people in Wolverhampton. They are working in partnership with the MoD to support Wolverhampton Veterans in a project called Joining Forces- Veterans Advice.

This is an exciting new initiative for them and they are looking for enthusiastic people who relish the challenge of being involved with something new which will deliver real change.

THE ROLE You will engage with older veterans in Wolverhampton to identify opportunities to improve their quality of life and support them to access appropriate services. This could include access to welfare benefits advice, support with housing matters, accessing social and leisure activities to stay socially engaged, or practical help to navigate the complexities of health and social care systems.

The service aims to support older people to make positive lifestyle changes, supporting them to understand their rights and options and taking steps to achieve their goals.

It is important you have experience of delivering advice and information effectively, sensitively and professionally for older people. You will enjoy engaging with people - have excellent communication skills and an understanding of the challenges faced by older people today.

Key essential experience

• Extensive knowledge of benefits, services and support available to older people, their families and their carers
• Confident I.T skills
• An understanding of the needs and aspirations of older people
• Knowledge of key issues for older people, their families and carers
• Knowledge and understanding of Lone Working principles and procedures
• An clear understanding of the principle of confidentiality in relation to client information and record
• An clear understanding of equality and diversity with a commitment to providing equality of opportunity for all; valuing diversity, promoting equality and challenging discrimination
• Full & clean driving licence with access to a car and adequate insurance cover to carry passengers for business

DBS clearance will be required.
