Job Title:Head of Project Controls Location:Derby Duration:Contract - 6 months Introduction: Assystem are an Award Winning International Engineering Design Consultancy who provide innovative and cutting edge solutions. We have a number of UK based offices and a significant, loyal client base. As our reputation for proficient delivery of complex projects grows even stronger, we have a need for a Head of Project Controls. Working on a strategically crucial nuclear project at our client's site in Derby, you'll be a Programme Manager responsible for driving the development of the project team's functional capability. Job role: A Programme Manager accountable, through leading the SMEs within the central PMO, for driving compliance with new suite of Projects controls throughout all programmes, implementing and sustaining the IBPC improvements, and then the continuous assessment and development of PM Functional capability Key responsibilities: Development of the PM Controls strategy to ensure a high-performing PM Function with the requisite Toolsets, Competencies, Processes and Assurance and inclusion in the PM Functional Plan. Lead and manage the centralised PM Function Programme Controls Team of PM Subject Matter Experts ensuring that de-centralised PM Capability is adequately supported or advised. Assurance and governance of PM Process adherence, ensuring Schedules/Plans, Cost Models, Earned Value Management Systems and Risk/Opp Registers have a basis of estimate (MDALs) and are accurate and robust with effective Change Management Processes. Deputise for Head of PM at Corporate reviews, workshops or meetings. Develops, maintain and configures the Portfolio Programme IMS and links to each Programme Plan. Develops, maintain and configures the Portfolio Programme EVMS Provision of Programme sourced Management information to the group President Defines and manages the Portfolio reporting regime Portfolio-level Manpower forecasting and reconciliation Assurance of Programmes via PILM and IBR Processes Customer Delivery Metric independent preparation and validation Interface with Strategic Portfolio Team to support what-if scenario planning Supports Campaign Leads with relevant PM resource Represents the PM Function at up to Exec level internally and externally Supports specific problem investigations and makes recommendations for remedial actions Reports directly into Head of PM Function Key Experiences and any Qualifications: Expert ability with Project Controls Experience of operating within structured project delivery environments Experienced in the handling, collation, analysis and presentation of data associated with project planning and delivery. Experience gained in relevant project delivery discipline(s) - scheduling, planning, cost management, risk management Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software - particularly Excel. Planning and Scheduling (p6/SAP) EVMS Operation, development and assurance Portfolio Management reporting Manpower planning Complex Programme and Operational Stakeholder management Estimating and Cost Modelling Must hold a relevant Project Management professional registration (e.g. AMP) Ideally holds some form of relevant academic qualification (e.g. HNC/HND/Foundation degree) Security clearance: Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance.
