Project Controls Specialist
Job Title:Project Controls Specialist (J43740) Location:Derby Duration:Contract (6 months) Introduction: Assystem are currently recruiting for a Project Controls Specialist to be based in Derby on a contract basis. The Project Controls Specialist will be based on our client's site in Derby reporting to the Project Controls Manager. Assystem are an engineering design consultancy who work on a number of projects that typically encompass the complete design life cycle from enquiry through to commissioning and handover of the final project requirements; many involving new and novel solutions to today's engineering problems. Assystem operate in the nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceutical and marine markets throughout the UK. Job role: To work out how to get cost control behaviours working effectively throughout the organisation now so that when the CAM model is implemented and the IBPC tool set arrives, the right behaviours are carried over. Responsible for supporting project EVM and Cost Management teams and delivers the L0 EVM and Cost Management data and supporting analysis. Provides the functional skills that ensure an accurate and timely EV, cost knowledge, skill & experience is provided to the Project Controls Manager and to projects as required. Specifically supports the Project Manager/ project team by supporting the creation, analysis and integration of project and business related data as required including; EVM, cost and schedule baselines, analysis of variances, management of changes, remedial target setting, and forecasting for projects within a programme and for the overall programme, ensuring the integration of the measures is consistent across the programme. Ensures consistency and accuracy of information communicated and advises appropriate action where necessary. Develop and assist in implementation of corrective action strategy for cost and schedule issues. Ensure the data integrity and quality of all performance reporting submitted to both internal and external customers. Key Accountabilities Support EV planning and cost management in all programmes and at all levels of planning enabling consistent meaningful reporting at all levels Sets up and delivers the L0 EV data and analysis on a monthly basis Partners PMOs for their specialism Supports specific problem investigations and makes recommendations for remedial actions Assurance of project EV and cost management information regularly including compliance with procedures and work instructions Captures the key knowledge both explicitly (in reports/procedures) and implicitly, if any costs or NDA's are needed approval from Management and Purchasing before any engagement. Recommend a network of capable suppliers in their field Trains/coaches project teams/owns the training programme for EVM and cost management. Key Experiences and any Qualifications Expert ability with Earned Value Management (EVM), and Cost Management techniques Experience of operating within structured project delivery environments Experienced in the handling, collation, analysis and presentation of data associated with project planning and delivery. Experience gained in relevant project delivery discipline(s) -scheduling, planning, cost management, risk management Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software - particularly Excel. Must hold a relevant Project Management professional registration (e.g. AMP) Ideally holds some form of relevant academic qualification (e.g. HNC/HND/ Foundation degree) Security clearance: Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance.
