Turbines Sub-System Designer

ROLE PURPOSE As a part of the Civil Large Engines Sub system, serving new product Introduction (NPI) and Fleet Programmes, the Turbines Sub System consists of a large and diverse range of components. The Sub System Designer (SSD) will be required to perform variety of activities related to Aero Engine Design & Development that helps/supports customerSub-System Design Integrator(SSDI) to make informed decisions on various technical accounts viz., Engine Weights, Performance, etc. SSD must be able to understand and follow Design review Process as one works while interacting across cross functional teams viz., Air Systems, Commodity, Functional, Non-Functional, Engine Build, etc. As an SSD, you will be the single point of contact between the customerSSDI and QuEST SSDs (India) to engage in technical discussion, task packaging, coordination and management to deliver solutions against project commitments. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES - Identify, capture and cascade project requirements for subsystem Integration to QuEST offshore team viz. Weights reporting process, Interface control process, Fitting instruction generation, Gaps table audit, Tolerance stack up process, BOM classification, TR gates etc. - Co-ordinate between customerSub System team SPCs and QuEST offshore team for work packages on Turbines Sub Systems to support different engine programmes. - Coordinate with offshore team to sort out technical queries, overview team tasks progress and ensure error free deliverables. - Work closely with the offshore Project manager to Manage work in accordance with project cost, timescale, and quality targets. - Assist in generating new value added techniques and methodologies to carry out sub system integration tasks more efficiently. - Action the Data pusher to transfer required inputs to offshore team - Review the offshore deliverables before delivering to customer. - Assist in writing new process guides and creating new templates as a part of continuous improvement plan. - Customer interaction on various Design Engineering tasks for Sub System Integration and presenting to different forums viz Project, Sub system Tech Lead. - Drive multifunctional teams from offshore to agreed solutions. - Defining preliminary requirements to offshore team for any of the identified tasks. - Collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders. - Assist QuEST Team in generating new value added techniques and methodologies to carry out Sub System integration tasks more efficiently. EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE) Experience - Good understanding of the customerCivil large engines product portfolio. - Previous component design or subsystem design experience. - 2 year experience in Aero engine domain. - Knowledge of Systems Engineering philosophy and toolset. - Knowledge and understanding of TeamCenter/Unigraphics/NX and PDM Qualifications - Degree level qualification (or equivalent) or above in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (ESSENTIAL TO CARRY OUT THIS ROLE) - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of numeracy. - Excellent Computer Literacy with experience of using Microsoft Office tools - Ability to communicate effectively with customers and a diverse staff population. - Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality with proprietary information. - Must be confident, resourceful, highly organised and be able to work with little direct intervention - Self-starter able to work well within a large team - Ability to train and mentor new engineers once experienced. - Ability to contribute to knowledge sharing sessions. - Pro-active planning skills to support delivery - Ability to quickly understand new problems and develop solutions.
