Estimator / Quantity Surveyor Birmingham B73 £35k to £45k Established in 2003, our client is a vibrant and innovative building company who have developed an enviable record of providing high quality and consistent production of new and re-furbished projects throughout the country. They are currently recruiting for a Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join their busy and experienced team. Position Summary As Quantity Surveyor, your role will involve a range of duties including: • Analyzing drawings and specifications, understand contractual terms and conditions and provide clear detailed quantity take offs • Assembling accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner for Stipulated Price, Design – Build and Construction/Project Management formatted projects • Organize sub-contractor’s quotations, negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents and issue proper documented purchase orders • Complete Budgeting and Scheduling for project and track same. Monitor progress, requisition change orders and identify any potential risks • Maintain relationships with sub-contractors and clients and identify areas for improvement in existing contracting processes • Overseeing health and safety, compliance with all relevant legislation, fraud prevention, sustainability and workforce issues • To provide a lead role in the operational delivery and monitoring of contracts and supplier performance • Provide and maintain unit pricing and database for material and labour costing, formulate cost break down from estimates and for project progress • Commercially manage all supply chain and supplier performance activity within their contract, implementing solutions to generate cost savings and efficiency improvements. • Responsible for the timely preparation of financial & commercial reports to Senior level Management (SLM) • Interface with finance department and meet with potential clients to discuss options for proposed service About you The successful Estimator should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the construction field in similar or related position and previous experience estimating projects up to £5 million. Additionally, they should have: • Good knowledge and understanding of construction and issues such as building regulations and planning and all aspects of construction technology • Commercial awareness good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects • The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships • Experience with estimating software (Conquest) preferred but not essential • Experience with Excel and Word software • The ability to work both on your own and as part of a team, good problem-solving skills and the ability to work to deadlines • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiating skills and understanding of health and safety issues • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the construction field in similar or related position and previous experience estimating projects up to £5 million How to apply If you wish to be considered for this Estimator / Quantity Surveyor role click ‘apply’.
