Manufacturing Engineer - Purchase An opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer - Purchase (ME-P) to join the Installations, Casings and Rings, Supplier Management Team (SMT) in Derby. As a Manufacturing Engineer - Purchase you will act as the key point of escalation for supplier issues and provide technical support to both the team and suppliers. Working within a "Team of Four" approach you will be accountable for components across all sectors of Rolls-Royce, working within a complex supply chain. You will also be responsible for a number of suppliers which will involve working with them to ensure that all quality activities are robustly carried out, along with the proving of production capability and rate readiness. You will help to identify any manufacturing risks with mitigations and identify future capability acquisition requirements for new manufacturing technology. You will work with the supplier to deliver capability acquisition projects in a timely fashion that supports product delivery. You will also be accountable for ensuring that the method of manufacture and inspection plan is capable of delivering design intent. We deliver the best jet engines in the world. Key Accountabilities - Ensuring product integrity for component or system is delivered through alignment of method of manufacture with design intent by interfacing with the appropriate design engineering organization. - Validating aerospace suppliers' method of manufacture and capability, through deployment of Integrated Product and Production Readiness (IPPR), FAIR, Production Product Approval Process (PPAP), and the application of relevant specifications and (SABRe). - Working with global interfacing teams (Design, Plant Teams, Research & Technology, etc.), partners, and suppliers to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes are understood and accounted for as required. - Planning and managing activities, while communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. - Influencing commodity strategies and sourcing decisions with technical knowledge. - Conducting and validating relevant assessments (Manufacturing Capability Assessments, SABRe Compliance Assessments) for new and existing supply chains. - Facilitating the development and implementation of new manufacturing technologies. - Ensuring method of manufacture for new components are developed which meet the customers' requirements for quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness, and ensure the level of performance is sustainable. - Having personal accountability for producibility and concession reduction, defining plans and strategies to achieve on-time, right-first time deliveries at a defined cost. - Act as New Product Introduction (NPI)/Product Introduction (PI) Lead for the team. - Be responsible for the coordination of all ME activity associated with the Drive for Zero Defects. Qualifications - Degree level education and/or with significant manufacturing experience or equivalent. - Ability to work well through individual initiative and in multi discipline teams. - Self-motivation, good team-working and communication skills. - High computer literacy and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels on technical issues need to be demonstrated. - Experience working within a casting / foundry or machining processes will be an asset.
