My client is a leading environmental and design consultancy offering expert services in Ecology, Arboriculture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design. This organisation is made up of over 100 talented professionals working out of four UK-based offices. My client ensures the effective delivery of specialist services in sectors including residential and urban developments, education, commercial and transport. This business is currently seeking an experienced Ornithologist/Ecologist to join the growing team and to be based in their Derbyshire office. Requirements - Educated to a minimum of degree level in an ecological or environmental discipline - A minimum of three years' experience working within the ecological consultancy sector - Excellent Extended Phase 1 habitat survey skills - Demonstrable experience carrying out Protected Species Surveys and mitigation work - Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or working towards membership - Protected Species Licences for bat, GCN , dormouse and or/excellent bird ID skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills Responsibilities In this position, you will undertake a variety of field work including Protected Species Surveys, Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, Protected Species scoping and reporting. You will play in a role in scoping, designing and undertaking a broad-range of bird surveys, such as breeding bird surveys and vantage point surveys. You will work alongside colleagues from a range of professions within the team, including landscape architects and arboricultural consultants on a variety of challenging projects. You will be required to liaise with clients, maintaining excellent working relationships. Your role will also involve producing written reports and documents to the highest possible standards, including Ecological Impact Assessments and Ecological Appraisals. You will be involved with mitigation work and EPS licencing, project management and team management. All work will be carried out with the client in mind, providing them with support throughout the planning and licensing process.
