The National Memorial Arboretum is the UK's year-round centre of Remembrance and home to the iconic Armed Forces Memorial. Situated in Staffordshire on the edge of the National Forest, the site features over 300 symbolic memorials amongst 30,000 maturing trees. With around 300,000 visitors each year and a growing portfolio of memorials, events and exhibitions, the Arboretum is becoming a nationally-important visitor site.

The Arboretum currently delivers around 250 events per year including Memorial Dedications, Commemorative Events, Large Scale Commercial Events and our Annual Remembrance Events. These events attract up to 15,000 people and can include high profile VIPs. Following the success of our events programme and the recent opening of a large new Remembrance Centre we are expecting visitor numbers to grow to around 450,000 per annum over the next few year.

To support this projected growth, we are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Events Assistant to a brand new position.

You will:

• To support the Events Manager in organising and delivering a range of internal, corporate, remembrance and VIP events. This includes Memorial Dedications and Services, National Memorial Arboretum managed events (with visitor numbers up to 20,000+) and Third Party events delivered at the National Memorial Arboretum.
• To assist members of the Events Team and other departments with all aspects of event administration and planning.
• To support internal and external stakeholders to ensure correct events procedures are followed at all time.

Educated to a good standard, you either will have some experience of working in an Events environment or will be a recent graduate from a relevant discipline. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and IT literacy to a high standard are essential. Experience of working with an events management/ticketing system would be desirable. Attendance and deliver of events outside normal working hours will be required and the ability to work under pressure and prioritise a heavy workload will be essential.

This is an exciting time to join the National Memorial Arboretum and the role will provide exposure to a wide range of event events both indoor and outdoor.

Please apply online at the Royal British Legion's website.

Closing date for this role is 28th June 2017

First interviews will be held on week commencing 3rd July 2017
