National Rail Infrastructure Manager We are currently seeking a National Rail Infrastructure Manager. This is a National Group role with the largest independent construction materials group in the UK. They operate the country's largest cement plant, two cement import terminals, around 60 quarries, 26 asphalt plants, 200 ready-mixed concrete & mortar plants and three concrete block plants, employing around 2,300 people nationwide. You will lead the business managing their rail operations in order to optimise assets and the rail network, and deliver the targets for production and distribution of materials. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows: Provide leadership and support to operational management for the safe and effective running of all railheads within the business. Responsible nationally for setting the standard for all on site track and sidings. Lead the business in implementing best practice rail management and network optimisation. Support the business by ensuring adequate processes are in place for the coordination of all rail hauled materials, to provide adequate stock levels for current and future needs. Set maintenance standards and periodically audit all railheads to ensure that site, plant and equipment is optimised, maintained and used in a safe and effective manner. In partnership with the procurement team, responsible for setting in place a maintenance regime to fully manage all plant, track and sidings to meet the needs of the maintenance schedule. Health & safety - review trackside safety arrangement with operational management to improve performance and comply with all company health and safety procedures with the objective of eliminating injury/accidents. Ensure that all relevant employees are trained and fully aware of their safety responsibilities. It is the responsibility of the Rail Infrastructure Manager to minimise any risk involved in the rail operations. You will possess the following key skills and attributes: Engineering background and qualification. Experience of managing logistics. Extensive knowledge of rail operations, including trackside and rail related legislative frameworks. Associated expertise within the construction materials industry including technical, environmental management and health and safety. Leadership and people management skills are essential within this role. Ability to perform adequately under pressure and/or opposition. Ability to make controlled responses in difficult situations. Problem Analysis - Ability in identifying problems, seeking pertinent data, recognising important information, and identifying possible causes of problems. Judgment - Ability to evaluate data and course of action and to reach logical decisions. Unbiased, rational approach. Initiative - Actively influencing events rather than passively accepting; sees opportunities and acts on them. Originates action or ideas.
