Job Description:

The job holder will support our range of long-term and interesting projects for vehicle owners, operators, manufacturers and local and national government. Responsibilities; * Developing business cases and specifications for new rolling stock * Design review and construction inspection of new trains * Design for installation of in-cab signalling equipment onto existing fleets * Fleet development, covering technical investigations, feasibility study and design for modifications and maintenance optimization * Project management and project engineering * Use technical expertise to develop innovative solutions that deliver the client's brief * Adopt a proactive approach to innovation, sustainability and delivering cost effective solutions * Produce technical reports and correspondence to a high level of quality * Manage the technical, commercial and financial aspects of projects * Assist with discussions with potential clients to develop business * Produce bids for new work The minimum qualifications for this position are: * Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering * Chartered Engineer or working towards. * Have a detailed knowledge in at least one of: (1) Business case, specification and / or design of new trains; (2) Construction and / or introduction of new trains; (3) Design and installation of major modifications to rail vehicles, (4) Maintenance of rail vehicles * Specialist knowledge in at least one of: Electrical systems, Mechanical systems, Structures and crashworthiness, Dynamics, kinematics and gauging, Design - mechanical or electrical * Be client focused to help build long term relationships * Able to work independently and as a team * Be able to plan, organize and manage * Have excellent written and oral communication skills * Proven experience of coordination and delivery to deadline and budget, and evidence of problem resolution in the process * Experience of producing accurate technical outputs Our Culture: Safety & health conscious, flexible working conditions, collaborative & friendly with regular social activities.
