Physics Graduate Teaching Assistant - About the role:

The science department at this fantastic 'outstanding' school are looking to add a physics graduate who is keen to gain experience as a teaching assistant, potentially with the ambition to become a teacher in the near future. Within the science department there are currently two other science graduate teaching assistants, including one in biology and one in chemistry, therefore there has emerged a need for a graduate with physics knowledge who can join the department and add their excellent knowledge within the physics subject. You must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with the other science graduate teaching assistants as a big emphasis within this school is on team work and collaboration amongst staff.

As your confidence in the role grows you will support both the class teacher and students within the classroom, plus also hold small intervention sessions to help boost the progress of learners within science who may either find physics particularly difficult and need expert advice and guidance, or be very high achievers and require additional support to reach their high potential. Once you gain the confidence to fulfil this duty to a high standard you will have the opportunity to take responsibility for larger intervention groups in order to build your knowledge and experience of what life as a physics teacher would entail. You will have access to opportunities which expose you to planning, differentiation and learning behaviour management strategies and techniques. If you should decide to move in to teacher training the following year you will be way ahead of others as you will have an extra year's experience and be ready and prepared for the next challenge!
