Assistant Pavement Engineer - Derby, UK
The principal function of this position is to assist pavement team with technical elements of pavement design and assessment, including visual condition survey, data assessment and analysis and preparing pavement design specifications. CH2M's Pavement Team, part of the Asset Management and Materials Group, is involved in a wide range of projects for different clients. Projects include Design and Build, analytical pavement design, pavement assessment, condition assessment and valuation, value management for pavement schemes and asset management for highways, ports/container terminals, and airfields in the UK and overseas. The principal function of this position is to assist pavement team with technical elements of pavement design and assessment, including visual condition survey, data assessment and analysis and preparing pavement design specifications. The project work supports our highways maintenance contracts, run through our A-One joint venture, as well as new pavement highway designs and resurfacing schemes in the UK and around the world. Projects also include port pavement new build designs and trouble-shooting of failures. Reporting to the pavements team leader Experience in pavement engineering (minimum one year experience) Working within the pavement team and with other CH2M teams Personal time management Ability to undertake site surveys and inspections Assisting in developing our designs through the different stages, site visits, pavement assessment and design, preparing pavement specification, attending meetings and workshops with other design professionals. As an assistant engineer develops they are expected to take on more responsibility in our projects from inception through to completion. The minimum qualifications for this position are:The ideal candidate will possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge.
