Assistant Legal Cashier
Position: Assistant Legal Cashier
Reporting to: Practice Manager, supervised by Practice Manager.
Job Purpose: To assist in conducting and recording the financial transactions of the practice and acting as the practice credit controller.
Salary: £18,000 - £25,000 (Pro-rata, D.O.E).
Day to day inputting of financial transactions in respect of both offices and client accounts in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules as directed by the practice manager. Receiving and banking of monies, managing cheques and telegraphic transfers after checking requisitions. Joint responsibility for the keeping and accounting for petty cash.
Dealing with day to day accounts queries.
Ledger reconciliation, checking ledgers for mis-posting and correcting errors where necessary.
Dealing with completions, TT'ing completion monies.
Preparation of the monthly client bank reconciliations.
Responsibility for chasing of client debts on behalf of practice and following escalating procedure to achieve payment of unpaid bills. Telephoning clients, writing to clients and passing on files for debt collection through Courts where appropriate.

Accounting technician/bookkeeping qualification and basic GCSE qualifications.
Solicitors account office experience.
Good working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules. Knowledge of the IRIS accounts system.
