A varied and interesting role for an experienced Business Support Assistant.

Our client is a leading international provider of materials development, testing and assurance. Through their offices and laboratories in the UK, US and the Far East, the company provides materials and assurance expertise to clients in a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, construction, ceramics, aerospace, defence, engineering and energy.

Our client requires an experienced Business Support Assistant to join their central administration team, based at their head office in Penkhull, Stoke-on-Trent. This is a full-time role, working 08.45-17.15 Monday to Thursday and 08.45-16.45 Friday.

Duties include: formatting and distribution of scientific reports and more general documents eg presentations, spreadsheets etc; diary and calendar management including scheduling meetings on behalf of staff and clients; taking minutes of meetings; liaising with laboratories / customers; use of laboratory information and customer relationship management systems; organising and booking travel and more general administrative duties. Reception / switchboard cover is also a feature of the role.

This is a varied and interesting role dealing with many aspects of a fast moving administration function. The person appointed will have GCSE's in Maths, English and ideally Science and will be able to demonstrate excellent written English. The position will suit someone who has: self-confidence; exceptional organisation skills; a flexible approach; the ability to work to tight timescales and is a team player but can also use their own initiative. As such a requirement for accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail is essential. Previous experience of working in a business support role is essential, as is a good knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word) and IT / keyboard skills, although full training in company specific systems will be provided. This role has daily face-to-face and telephone contact with staff and customers, so strong communication skills and an excellent telephone manner are required.
