About Una Health Ltd
Una Health is a distributor of In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) and personal care products within the UK. Launched in 2009, and based in Stoke-on-Trent, the annual turnover is £1.5 million. The company has six members of staff to cover sales and marketing, technical support and logistics and operations.
The company has three key focus areas for 2016; Maternity, Sports Medicine and Diabetes Tolerance Testing. These are growth areas in addition to our core product range.
Within the professional section of the business, the main customer is the NHS. In addition, business also comes from private medical companies, occupational health, addiction clinics, sports science and clinical research.
The professional product portfolio contains a variety of IVD products and medical products. The first core product is the Reflotron (manufactured by Roche Diagnostics). This is a chemistry analyser which is used at the point-of-care. The Reflotron offers 17 different tests looking at clinical areas including liver function, muscle disorders and diabetes. This product is mainly used by Occupational Health and Sports Medicine.
The OPTi Blood Gas Analyser (manufactured by OPTi Medical) is the second core product. This product is mainly used by respiratory teams in both community and secondary care settings. The principle benefit of the analyser is to assist in moving care for people with long term conditions such as COPD into a community or home setting.
Our maternity offering encompasses a medical kit for fetal scalp blood sampling. There has been a significant investment in bringing an alternative product to market which improves the sampling process for clinicians.
To support the professional products the company has a dedicated workshop and technical service. This service aims to resolve any technical issues across the whole professional portfolio. Normally, a customer would log issues with the technical team, who, dependent on the product and the issue, advise a solution over the phone or arrange collection of the product for inspection. If the product has to be collected we offer a loan service to ensure the customer’s service/clinic is minimally disrupted.
The personal side of the business focuses on two main areas; Nilaqua and Self Testing. Nilaqua encompasses a range of waterless hygiene products designed predominantly for elderly care, and in particular, dementia care. These products are marketed mainly to carers but also to families and in addition for festivals and for camping or where there is limited water resources. The Self-Test range is mostly aimed at people who have concerning symptoms which they would like to diagnose in areas such a gluten intolerance or in areas where the person might be reticent to visit the GP such as prostate health and STD testing. These products are all sold directly to the customer via various digital channels such as online auction sites and transactional websites.
